It took a year to read the Bible, then almost 9 months to read the Apocrypha. Now, I'm going to try to offer reflections on the Narrative Lectionary. But, I won't be posting daily--at least, for a while.

Daily Prayer, Saturday, December 3, 2011

Let us hear what God the Lord will speak;
   for you will speak peace to your people,
   to your faithful,
   to those who turn to you in your hearts (from Psalm 85:2)

Morning
Invitatory Psalm  67
God, be gracious to us and bless us
and make your face to shine upon us,
that your way may be known upon earth,
your saving power among all nations.
Let the peoples praise you, O God;
let all the peoples praise you.

Let the nations be glad and sing for joy,
for you judge the peoples with equity
and guide the nations upon earth.
Let the peoples praise you, O God;
let all the peoples praise you.

The earth has yielded its increase;
God, our God, has blessed us.
May God continue to bless us;
let all the ends of the earth revere you.

Psalms 141, 146

Daily Lectionary Reading, 2 Peter 3:13-15a
13 But according to his promise we are waiting for a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness is at home. 14 Therefore, dear friends, while you are waiting for these things to happen, make every effort to be found by him in peace—pure and faultless. 15 Consider the patience of our Lord to be salvation, [Common English Bible]

Today's Prayer: Renewing God, your righteousness has smiled upon us with love and compassion, and you seek to guide us on our pilgrimage, so that we do not return to our foolish ways. We listen for your words of truth and peace, your guiding and blessed words of salvation, so that right living and right relationships can come together in the joy of your shalom. Amen.
