It took a year to read the Bible, then almost 9 months to read the Apocrypha. Now, I'm going to try to offer reflections on the Narrative Lectionary. But, I won't be posting daily--at least, for a while.

Praise the Lord, a Reflection on Psalm 147:12-20

Psalm 147 begins "Praise the Lord!"

We should because God does a lot for us. And we need a lot done.

We are on a different kind of journey than those original wise men. We have a different understanding of the value of earthly monarchy. But we have some things in common. We are seeking. Moreover, they knew when they found what they were looking for.

Psalm 147 reminds us that we know who is the Lord, and what the Lord has provided and can provide for us.

God has gathered the outcasts, healed the brokenhearted, lifted up the downtrodden. God has offered protection from attackers, provided food, and also has provided us with knowledge of how we should live our lives.
