It took a year to read the Bible, then almost 9 months to read the Apocrypha. Now, I'm going to try to offer reflections on the Narrative Lectionary. But, I won't be posting daily--at least, for a while.

Daily Prayer, Daily Prayer, Wednesday, September 21, 2011

O Lord, I love the house in which you dwell, and the place where your glory abides.

Morning
Invitatory Psalm 100
Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth.
Worship the Lord with gladness;
come into the Lord’s presence with singing.

We know that you are God.
It is you that made us, and we are yours.
we are your people and the sheep of your pasture.

We enter your gates with thanksgiving,
and your courts with praise.
We give thanks to you, bless your name.
For you, O Lord, are good;
your steadfast love endures forever,
and your faithfulness to all generations.

Psalm 37

Daily Lectionary Reading, Psalm 25:1-9

I offer my life to you, LORD . 2 My God, I trust you. Please don’t let me be put to shame! Don’t let my enemies rejoice over me! 3 For that matter, don’t let anyone who hopes in you be put to shame; instead, let those who are treacherous without excuse be put to shame.
4 Make your ways known to me, LORD ; teach me your paths. 5 Lead me in your truth— teach it to me— because you are the God who saves me. I put my hope in you all day long. 6 LORD , remember your compassion and faithful love— they are forever! 7 But don’t remember the sins of my youth or my wrongdoing. Remember me only according to your faithful love for the sake of your goodness, LORD .
8 The LORD is good and does the right thing; he teaches sinners which way they should go. 9 God guides the weak to justice, teaching them his way. [Common English Bible]

Prayer for Today:

O Lord our God, through your mercy we know
we can come to you, because we trust in you
as our forgiving God, whose ways are love and mercy.
....

Forgive our failures to turn to you
for your guidance in overcoming these traps
and for being so gullible and reckless.
Teach us the way to walk in your right paths.
