It took a year to read the Bible, then almost 9 months to read the Apocrypha. Now, I'm going to try to offer reflections on the Narrative Lectionary. But, I won't be posting daily--at least, for a while.

Daily Prayer, Saturday, August 13, 2011

Let the people praise you, O God; let all the peoples praise you (Psalm 67:3)

Morning
Invitatory Psalm  67
God, be gracious to us and bless us
and make your face to shine upon us,
that your way may be known upon earth,
your saving power among all nations.
Let the peoples praise you, O God;
let all the peoples praise you.

Let the nations be glad and sing for joy,
for you judge the peoples with equity
and guide the nations upon earth.
Let the peoples praise you, O God;
let all the peoples praise you.

The earth has yielded its increase;
God, our God, has blessed us.
May God continue to bless us;
let all the ends of the earth revere you.

Psalms 141, 146

Daily Lectionary Reading, Psalm 133
Look at how good and pleasing it is when families live together as one! 2 It is like expensive oil poured over the head, running down onto the beard— Aaron’s beard!— which extended over the collar of his robes. 3 It is like the dew on Mount Hermon streaming down onto the mountains of Zion because it is there that the LORD has commanded the blessing: everlasting life.

Today's prayer:

  • Behold, how good and pleasant it is
    When we live together in unity!
    For there the Lord has commanded the blessing,
    Life for evermore.
