Paul's question (I assume a rhetorical one) comes back to me as I read Psalm 78, "How are they going to know if we don't tell them?
Are we telling them?
The psalmist asks the people to listen: I will tell you things that I heard from my ancestors. I'll tell children about what the Lord can do and has done.
This week's lectionary chooses only a portion of the psalm (it is a long one) that is specifically related to the wilderness trek:
The Lord led them through dangerous places, showed them clear guidance of the right way to go, and made sure that their needs were taken care of.
What do we tell the children in our congregation about our own experiences with God? Do we notice when God notices us? How have we gotten through dangerous places? How did we know which way was the right way to go? Are our needs being satisfied?

I have also been thinking quite a bit recently whether I really make much of an effort personally to 'tell them' - or do I tend to assume they are hearing the wonders of God from others? Hmmmm ... I need to put more effort in here!
