It took a year to read the Bible, then almost 9 months to read the Apocrypha. Now, I'm going to try to offer reflections on the Narrative Lectionary. But, I won't be posting daily--at least, for a while.

Daily Prayer, Saturday, July 23, 2011

Turn to me and be gracious to me

Morning

Invitatory Psalm 67
God, be gracious to us and bless us
and make your face to shine upon us,
that your way may be known upon earth,
your saving power among all nations.
Let the peoples praise you, O God;
let all the peoples praise you.

Let the nations be glad and sing for joy,
for you judge the peoples with equity
and guide the nations upon earth.
Let the peoples praise you, O God;
let all the peoples praise you.

The earth has yielded its increase;
God, our God, has blessed us.
May God continue to bless us;
let all the ends of the earth revere you.

Psalms 26, 27, 29

Daily Lectionary Reading, Psalm 128

Everyone who honors the LORD, who walks in God’s ways, is truly happy! 2 You will definitely enjoy what you’ve worked hard for—
you’ll be happy; and things will go well for you.
3 In your house, your wife will be like a vine full of fruit. All around your table, your children will be like olive trees, freshly planted. 4 That’s how it goes for anyone who honors the LORD : they will be blessed!
5 May the LORD bless you from Zion. May you experience Jerusalem’s goodness your whole life long. 6 And may you see your grandchildren.
Peace be on Israel!

Prayer for Today:
O Lord our God, keep us on your path. Keep us aware of the many blessings you have bestowed upon us. Give us peace. Teach us how to be part of your peace. Amen.
