It took a year to read the Bible, then almost 9 months to read the Apocrypha. Now, I'm going to try to offer reflections on the Narrative Lectionary. But, I won't be posting daily--at least, for a while.

Listening to God, a Reflection on Psalm 85:8-13

If you're like me, you think of prayer as talking to God. Yet, we know that prayer should also be doing some listening, as well. Psalm 85:8 is a good reminder to us: Let me hear what God the Lord will speak.

But, do we want to hear what God says?

In this psalm, God's message is to live in peace with each other--not just grudgingly, but really peacefully.

What this world would be like if we did listen: Steadfast love and faithfulness will meet; righteousness and peace will give each other.

The Lord wants this for us, and the Lord provides much for us. Verses 11-13 affirm those gifts.
