Some sayings are hard because they seem so easy. For example, Jesus told the disciples that if thy didn't forgive somebody, then that person just wasn't forgiven. What's not to like about that? Why shouldn't somebody who hurt me have to suffer forever? It is easier for me than I want to admit that I get any satisfaction from that thought. Yet, because I've read the rest of the Bible, I am unable to believe that Jesus really wants the church to be in charge of causing suffering.
