October 20, 2013 – Twenty-Second Sunday after Pentecost
Patient and loving God, as we give our gifts to you, we realize that your ears must grow weary from the constant prayers that petition you – not just for our needs, but for our insatiable wants. Lead us to that place where our prayers and our giving are not focused on ourselves, but more on how we can make your love real to others. Use our gifts, use our prayers, as a force for compassion and peace in our hurting world. In the name of Christ, our rock and redeemer. Amen. (Luke 18:1-8)

October 27, 2013 – Twenty-Third Sunday after Pentecost
Merciful Lord, we offer our gifts and we offer our prayers, not trusting in our righteousness, but as those who know our own unworthiness but trust only in your love and grace. Keep from us any temptation to see ourselves as better than any other, remembering that you loved us all so much that you gave your only Son as the price for our redemption. Help us to see in Christ, our mediator, the way to love you and all your children more fully. We pray in Christ’s holy name. Amen. (Luke 18:9-14)
